Reagan Alzheimers

Question:
Today an active, vibrant, energetic man who ran a country and wentall over the world, lost his battle with Alzheimer's, the diseasethat pushed him into seclusion and robbed him of his memories andability to function.

Despite some articles which seem to imply that if you're activeenough as a senior, you'll ward off dementia-causing illnesses,Ronald Reagan's tragic illness and death is proof that you can'tcount on that. People with Alzheimer's, many of whom can't functionso well now, are people who contributed a lot to the world, and couldhave been lending their wisdom and support to younger generations ifthis thief of a disease had not stricken them. Not only do they loseout, but succeeding generations do too.

A commentator mentioned that Reagan went into seclusion years ago andhasn't appeared publicly. Now that I have personal experience withthis disease I feel for him and his family that he felt the need tobe in seclusion. If the world were more understanding of people whohave some problems, people with middle-stage Alzheimers and otherdementia diseases could intermingle more in society without fear ofderision or stigma from ignorant people who don't or won't understandthe disease.

If Mr. Reagan's suffering and passing helps even one person sufferingfrom dementia, it was not all in vain.

Anything more to share with me??? What's your ideas??

Answer: I'm far from being a fan of reagan's, but he was 93 years old....if you're93 you know your time is limited.

My grandmother is 85 years old...and lives by herself still, so I'm hopingto inherit her genes....

I don't think Reagan should be deified the way many conservatives havebeen trying to do for about the last 20 years. But a similar number ofnon-conservatives have been trying to make him out as the very Spawnof Hell for that same period of time. And that's just bull, people, come on already.

One thing I think he ought to be put on a pedestal for - the guy wasthe best, bar none, public speaker of anyone to hold public office, probably in that whole century. (Well, I hear tell Churchill was noslouch either.) He totally deserves the title "The GreatCommunicator."

The more you see old Reagan speeches on teevee these past couple days, the more you realize that Dubya simply ain't no Reagan and never willbe. So, all youse conservative typeses, remember THAT this November, okay?
