Question: I think I have presenile dementia. I have aphasia. Words don't makesense. I'm getting clumsy. I trip on things often. I lose track oftime too. I'm scared. What am I experiencing? My doctor doesnt take me seriously when I try to talk with her about my problem. Can anyone give me some suggestions???
Answer: I know that your doctor doesn`t take you seriously when you tryto talk to her about your fear of dementia. She should be trying to reassureyou that you do not have this disorder. If you are not satisifed with hertreatment of you then you must think about getting a new psych doctor, orassert yourself and tell her that you need this to be taken seriously.Only a doctor can tell you for sure if it is anxiety that is causing thesesymptoms. And there is a very good chance it is.When my anxiety is high, I trip over things and drop things all the time. WhenI am really anxious I can`t remember what certain things are called, once Icould not remember what a potholder was called. I had to ask my husband whileholding the potholder what it was. I was terrified that I was losing my mind atthat point, and it was all caused by anxiety.I also get a feeling that you are trying to diagnosis yourself and perhaps youare reading alot of medical books or are surfing the internet to find thereason for your symptoms. If you are doing that please for your own good, stop.I have done this too many times to know that all I accomplish is to increase myanxiety terribly.
