Parkinsons Dementia

Question:
my uncle (Parkinsons/dementia) is in a temporary nursing homeawaiting permanent placement somewhere else. because ofagitation he was taken off Parkinson's meds and is fairly,no greatly, 'locked up'. This home isn't geared forextreme agitation and my aunt has gone along with this medbusiness as she doesn't feel she has much choice - but thatis another problem. Because he is highly dependant he hasto be fed, my Aunt likes to be there for the 3 main meals aday to feed him. On rare occasions when she is tied upelsewhere, she has missed a meal or two. On those occasionshe has 'delusions' of her being kidnapped, raped, he 'has torescue her' but the staff won't 'let him'. They are theonly time he has these delusions. I know delusions are veryreal and do happen. But as my uncle still knows most peopleat this stage and knows what time to expect my aunt etc andshe tells him when she can't make it, I wonder if he isplaying on her sympathies. I know I would like my loved onewith me most of the time if I was in a home and still knew afair bit about what is going on, so I understand hisanxieties. But it is getting her down and making her go toextreme lengths to be there, she is not complaining and so Iguess it is for her to handle. She has plenty of familysupport of course but it's always so hard being on theoutside and watching people go down. Both her and him.

Can anyone give me some suggestions???

Answer: The klonopin my dad was taking for his ADrelated agitation is a drug used to help relieve Parkinson'stremors, at least so I thought. Do you have any idea why itwouldn't serve some of the same purpose for both diseases?

Not sure whether agitation is quite the word. He went intoa home suddenly. He was at a camp for respite and only gonea couple of days and got some heart congestion - he hascardiomyopathy - the camp sister rang an ambo and shortlyafter admittance to hospital appeared to have had anothermini stroke. This is what appears to have made him agitatedso the hospital took him off his Parkinsons meds tobasically 'lock him up' and curtail his frantic trying toget out of bed. This mild mannered man almost broke myaunt's wrist in the hospital to escape. He needed to calmdown before a nursing home (the temp one) would agree togive him a bed until he got the permanent nursing homeplacement.
