Question:
I'm looking for suitable support groups so I canlearn about looking after my father who has Multi-Infarct Dementia (I don'tknow if I Spelt that right). My understanding of the diagnosis is that hehas dementia as a result of multiple strokes. We live in MelbourneAustralia.

So is this an appropriate website ? Can anyone give me some suggestions???

Answer: I thought my Mum had MID (your spelling is fine!) but ... apparently(although I'm still neither sure nor convinced) she has Alzheimers.Apparently the only definitive diagnosis of any form of dementia takes placeat autopsy and many dementias have the same symptoms, so I think you'll findthis n.g. useful and very supportive.It's a learning curve for all of us, and we all join in when we feel we havesomething salient to contribute (and sometimes even when we don't!).I couldn't find an MID n.g., and have found this one to be a great help.I hope you do too.It's a horrid thing that's happening to our loved ones and it really doeshelp to be able to throw ideas around or even just offload to people whoreally do know what you're talking about.
