Dementia Help

Question:
My 15 year old mongrel has recently started to show symptoms of what appearsto be senile dementia. A neurology work-up found nothing but "aging". Myproblem is that the dog now paces anxiously almost all night. I am lookingfor either a medicine that will relieve the symptoms ( I tried atavan andvalium, both make her stoned and the valium leaves her anxious and theatavan leaves her pacing), or a medicine that will allow her to sleep atnight (for her to take, not me) and leave her mind clear in the day.Any thoughts?Any one tries klonopin, thorazine, or trazodone?

Answer: talk with your vet about the drug Anipryl. See if that may be anoption for your furbaby.

My 22 year old exhibited the same symptoms several months before hecrossed to the bridge and I wish I had known about this drug.

Here is an article you can read and I am sure there is much more outthere regarding the results of this drug.

my resolve to this was laying on the floor next to Moose atnight to help him feel secure during the most anxious times. Sometimesit helped, sometimes it didnt. I used Valium, but cut the pill in halfand that helped a lot.

i read somewhere (maybe?) that Prozac was also being used for animaldementia. I could be mistaken. Maybe check with some veternarianuniversities for the latest research.
