Dementia Caregivers

Question:
Are they any sources that could help pay in home caregivers for my mother who has dementia?

I have become frustrated in the lack of goverment funded services for the elderly. I need to pay caregives in the home to tend to my mohter because she has dementia(and other health problems). Does anyone know of any funded grants, private sources that I may apply for. My resources are tapped out. We live in Texas.

can anyone give me some suggestions???

Answer: Call your local hospital and ask for a social worker. they should be able to put you in contact with organizations that can help you. I did this when my mother in law had Alzheimer's. I even got the name of a lawyer specializing in elder law. It's a horrible disease, and so hard on the caregiver. Make sure to be persistent in your search, don't give up. You can't do this alone.

medicare payed for my mothers inhome care...give them a call...contact 1-800-MEDICARE 24 hours a day, 7 days a week them a call...
