Question: I am 64 year old Vietnam vet - but I am somewhat new to the VA health caresystem. So I am wondering whether any of the following tests are available - and ifso, how does a vet qualify? 1) hearing test 2) Alzheimer's test 3) sleep apnea testing 4) erectile dysfunction diagnosis (I.E. how can I get the VA to prescribeViagra?) If anyone out there has experience with any of these please share with me some of your tips??? Any advice for me as well???
Answer: What I should have clarified is I am really looking for vets (or friends ofyours who are vets) who have direct experience with any of the medicalprocedures I listed above. I.E., first hand patient knowledge that the VAdoes provide this service (test/diagnostic). For example, someone might post that they know a veteran who gave the VA adetailed description of serious short term memory loss and thus convincedthe VA to test for Alzheimers. I am aware I could place a phone call and ask the VA directly. But myinstincts suggest that as a first step it will be helpful to know that theVA is indeed offering a specific test to *some* patients. Then I know thatit is mostly a matter of building a good case as to why I might deserve thesame consideration.
