Question: This is just an observation from me. But somehow it seems that every daymore and more people are becoming members of our goup and for all ofthose that are , how many new diabetics are diagnosed every day. It seems like diabetes has become an epidemic and all we can do is towatch our carbs, exercise and take meds. What advances have been madetoward a cure. Will there ever be one. Can anyone give me some suggestions???
Answer: I personally have made the same observation. I have also been told thatat our local hospital which services a population base of approximately250,000 people gets 25 NEW referral to the diabetes education clinic everyweek! Guelph, Ontario apparently has one of the highest rates of diabetesin the province. I'm beginning to think that not everything is know about the disease andthat possibly it is mutating in someway that isn't yet fully understood.(just my personal opinion). But yes, I believe that you're correct insaying it's an epidemic. OR IT COULD BE that the baby boomer generation has hit that age wheremore Type II's are diagnosed. Want to bet in another few years we'll seethe same thing with stroke statistics, heart attack statistics, alzheimers statistics, etc.
