Question: My husbasnd is in the second quandrant of this dreaded disease. Is there anythingout there thatr is newer than the usual treatment? I would like to have any newinformation on Alzheimers. Can anyone help us???
Answer: I cannot be sure what all you have tried. There are a couplepsychotropic medications that do work very well. I work with organicbrain syndrome, senile dementia and Alzheimers patients. I am what iscalled a guardian and I work mostly on abuse and exploitation cases, concerning the elderly. Xyprexa is the newest and works very well.Aricept is also good, but I have found it to have flu-like effects onwomen. My men have done much better with it. Witin the last twoweeks, one of the neurologists put my 68 year old gentleman, onAricept. He has been on Xyprexa for about a year. I was concernedabout the two, but I am amazed at the good results within a week and ahalf. It usually takes two to four weeks for psychotropics to spreadthrough the system. I just heard on the news today that they now havea vacination they are getting ready to try on people, but I am surethat is still off in the future.
