Alzheimers Cure

Question:
Has anyone heard of a treatment for Alzheimer called Snozenlin? I'm notsure if this is the correct spelling. I've been told that this treatmentis from the Netherlands, and is being used on a limited basis at a fewhospitals in North America.

Can anyone give me some suggestions???

Answer: This is a new one to me; I have heard and seen the use of Cognex (almostuseless, as far as I could tell, with fairly awful side effects) andAricept (similar efficacy with fewer side effects). Hydergine was anolder attempt at Alzheimer's treatment that tried to increase blood flowto the brain but had no clinical efficacy with Alzheimer's, since thatdisease is not dependent on blood supply. The current rage for gingkobiloba supplements has the same problem, with a question of long-termreactive ischemia if the blood vessels habituate to the gingko. So far, three expensive drugs (Hydergine, Cognex and Aricept;gingko is basically cheap) with good profitability for the pharmaceuticalcompany and a guaranteed market of deparate people and families willing topay anything, but little efficacy. So I'm not holding my breath for a newone.

An effective treatment- at least to halt the further progession of thedisease- would probably have to block the formation of the abnormalamyloid protein that contributes to the neurofibrillary deformation.

Joe, you might try a Web search of Medline, perhaps, or even an Alta Vistasearch. Alzheimer's Net might be a resource too.
